It really depends, MacOS takes much less space compare to Windows 11. For reference, I have an 2018 MBP, macOS takes 12GB and applications takes 65GB. So if you are not using the laptop for storage purpose, 256G is likely enough.

I personally think apple tags are useless for all practical purposes. It is at best works if it is in the same room as your phone. You move to a different location with as minimum as with 2-3 walls it does not work. I got one for my kid and he can use it for music sheet as a pro musician, he can use it to draw digital art as a artist, he can produce music alongside with his midi player as a composer. He also uses it in his class as notebooks. It’s a great tool for smart people.
